Part of the SAFER initiative is awareness -- and thanks to the SAFER Task Force members, the Office on Violence Against Women, and media partners throughout NELA, a multimedia ad campaign is running until October 2010. The goal: to raise awareness of domestic violence in rural parishes as a community concern -- and to let everyone know there's help! Check out the billboards (at left) and other ads (below and at right), and check back, as we'll post new ads as they appear. The content for the ads is based on ideas and concerns provided by the residents of each of of the parishes (counties) involved in this initiative. Then the ads were reviewed for input from survivors of domestic violence for their feedback as well. Each of the parishes that are part of the SAFER initiative will have a billboard, radio or TV ad, and a series of newspaper ads running until fall 2010.
IMPORTANT: All ads are copyrighted and were supported by Grant No. 2008-WR-AX-0029 awarded by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.
