During October, to raise awareness among kids about domestic violence, The Family Justice Center conducted its Pennies for Peace awareness and fundraising activity, providing thousands of area school students information about DV. This activity also gives kids a way to help other kids dealing with violent family situations by raising funds to benefit FJC programs. The class raising the most gets to release live butterflies symbolizing our wish for a peaceful family for every kid. This year that class was Mrs. Robert’s 3rd grade class at Highland. See full list of winners, below.

The final report is in and 13 schools raised $4,842.52.

* The overall winning class was from Highland Elementary, Mrs. Robert’s 3rd grade class, raising $179.59.  They win the Butterfly Release to be held Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 2pm, a Pizza Party and a prize for each student.

* Barkdull Faulk Elementary won the drawing for $100 WalMart Gift Card.

* Central Elementary raised the most funds overall, $759.86.

* Each winning class from its respective school will receive a small prize.

Great job, everyone!
